A Week in Suffolk – August 2011
In mid August 2011, ten members of the West Herts set up camp at Carlton Park, Saxmundham. Most of us arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and a short time later came the important task of finding food and drink for the evening. There are not many watering holes in town, but THe Bell Hotel met all our requirements on the liquid front. The following days were spent meandering along the quiet lanes and sandy byways. We visited the coast on a couple of days, but it was a bit chilly. Even so two of the party went in for a dip. Our highest mileage on one day was about 45, which allowing for our late starts, sightseeing and refreshments was ideal. Saxmundham also boasts an excellent "curry house", where we dined on two evenings. I think the week was enjoyed by all who went and the area is great for cycling.
