A Week in Herefordshire 2015

Saturday 4th July found 12 members of the West Herts CTC, plus Geoff from Stafford and Roger and Jill from Dorset setting up camp in Eardisland. Arrow Bank Holiday Park is a very well run site, catering for tents, touring "vans" and static holiday homes.

It is only a few minutes walk into Eardisland which contains a Community run shop, the White Swan pub and two tea rooms.

At 10.00am on Sunday, led by Ian, the group set off for Presteigne, calling at Shobdon Airfield for coffee. Two miles from lunch we got caught in a thunderstorm. Luckily the Radnor Arms Hotel in Wales agreed to feed and water us despite our dishevelled appearance.

Monday was pretty dismal and not much cycling was done, save for Richard who met up with everyone for dinner in Leominster.

On Tuesday Geoff took us on a delightful tour of the Black and White villages, lunching at the Tram Inn in Eardisley.

Wednesday Peter showed ud his prowess in the use of his Garmin, navigating north to Croft Castle for 11's, the on to the village of Leintwardine and the Sun Inn.

On Thursday we followed Richard south on a brisk ride across the Wye, with the temperature rising nicely. That evening we all enjoyed an excellent steak dinner at the Red Lion, Pembridge.

Friday came around much too soon, with Dianne leading a large group round some familiar lanes to Weobley, the to lunch at Eardisley. Meanwhile Peter and two others ventured into the Welsh foothills.

Once again everyone enjoyed a great week away, with many thanks to Ian.
